Eleanor Long was commissioned to create an artwork in two parts for a new office development behind Regent Street, following an invited design competition. Long’s completed work is a series of panels that protrude and recede from the surface of the building in two sections at either end of the ground floor façade on Warwick Street. Undulating back-lit glass lines flow across the panels and curve back into the wall. As day becomes night the glass gradually illuminates the curves, giving rise to differing tones. The artist pioneered the unique combination of jesmonite and glass for the commission.
The artwork is one of a series of commissions curated by Modus Operandi for the Crown Estate's renewal of property in the West End.
