Carsten Nicolai was commissioned to create an artwork which would be integrated into the structure of a utility building at the Olympic Park. In his design for lfo spectrum, Nicolai has created an alternative representation of the iconic Olympic Rings – transforming them into an image of the loops of a sound wave as a low-frequency oscillation. The design's changing colour gradients are derived from the spectrum of a sunset, and are presented without a discernible beginning or end.
Modus Operandi has advised and supported the ODA on a series of commissions for the Olympic Park Art Programme.
