Forest, a serial installation by Maggie Ellenby, was set within the windows of six empty office buildings in the Queen Street area. The imagery referred to the coniferous forest that once covered the Thames Valley. The trees were illuminated from dusk until midnight, and in the hours just before and after dawn their shadows were back-projected. Silhouettes of animals – a caribou or a red deer, a hovering sparrowhawk or a squirrel – appeared and disappeared as the installation continued.
This work was part of the Light Up Queen Street Programme, curated and organised by Modus Operandi.
